Work and everything else!

Hey all,

Sorry that it has been forever since my last post. I really had some serious writers block with no chance to overcome it. I really couldn't find a good subject to write about. And then I realized that it really didn't matter what I wrote about because... I would be writing.

So here it goes...

I am supper glad that I am no longer in Finite Math! It is such a weight lifted off of my shoulders that I can't really express the happiness in my heart that I no longer have to worry about word problems or the stress that goes with them. Now I can remember formulas.... but trying to decipher those formulas out of a word problem that looks like: You have 9 marbles, 4 white, 3 red and 2 orange balloons. If you threw 5 darts at that group of balloons.... what are the odds of hitting 2 red, 2 orange and 1 white balloon? ARE YOU SERIOUS???? Who cares? I WILL NEVER HAVE TO KNOW THIS PROCESS IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM!!!! EVER!!!!! Why can't I use a graphing calculator? Your supposed to be able to adapt and build on your knowledge. But graphing calculators are  built to do advanced functions... like remembering formulas!!!! So what is the big f-ing deal?
I know that I will have to still take this class, but it will be my last math class for my major... and I can't wait! But lets not rush this!

I am really not sure what else to say, so for now, I love you all and I will be in touch!!!!

Carry on,

Ryan

Fininte Math

Finite Math can suck muh balls!!!!
I know that is a pretty strong start, but seriously... it is horrible. I know that in high school (almost 13 years ago) I was no math genius. In fact, I barely passed Algebra 3-4 the third time I took it. For the record, I had the same teacher the first two times and after the first time, I went to my councilor and begged to be switched to a different teacher, but after failing the second time, then they finally switched me to someone who wasn't a total arse, and I passed with a B, but alas, I digress.
I know that math is NOT, I repeat N O T my strong suit, but I try. By "try" I mean I attempt to learn as much as possible in class and then only do the required homework. This is where I have my problems. I know that IUPUI has the MAC (Math Assistance Center) that is free for students, by "free" I mean they tack on a charge every semester on your tuition, during certain times of the day, but those times usually aren't convenient for me. This is truly a helpful thing!
What I do have a problem with is not just paying $100+ dollars for a book that I have to buy a $3 binder to put it in, but also that there is usually online homework as well. Now they say that you should spend 2-3 times the amount of hours outside of class that you are in class, working on extra problems from the book or online homework. So if I am in class two times a week for 1hr 15min (total for math alone= 2.5hrs) that I should spend somewhere between 5-7&1/2 hours a week working on those extra math problems.... Are they out of their damn minds?
Now I know that I am a part time student, but I can barely do a half hour that night after class without getting pissed that I had already forgot everything the teacher had said, because I feel that she doesn't teach it in a way that sticks in my brain.
This is why I am going to try to make a visit to the MAC every Tuesday for at least 2 hours, a part of my regular schedule. I just hope that those people can help me achieve my goal, passing this class with at least a C+, so I this will fill all of my math requirements for my major, and I will never have to look at another math problem for as long as I live!

So in short.... Finite Math can suck muh balls!!!

Super Dad!

                                                          Fathers are the best!!!!

Today was one of the most productive days I have had in about a couple months. Well, really since my dad helped me last time to accomplish stuff around the house. I really am not sure how I would get so much done without the pops!

He is like superman, Einstein, Mr. Wizard, & Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor all wrapped up in one! The amount of knowledge in this mans head boggles me.

Today's projects included and concluded:

1) The replacement of both elements in the water heater, after scraping out the random calcium deposits in the bottom. It took about and hour and a half to pull the calcium from the bottom after we took an old spoon, bent it and duct taped it to a dowel rod.
2) Changed this crappy oil plug on my car that the old owner put on... why? Because they were to lazy to get the right one. The one they put on the car was this Universal stopper plug that had a toggle bolt on the end. So Fred and I spent more time deciding how we were going to get this bolt out from the inside of  the oil tank.

Basically I am saying that my dad is awesome and I love him for ALWAYS helping me out!

Social Network

When I sat down to watch this movie, I wasn't exactly sure what I was in for. I know that it got rave reviews from both fans and critics. I still had my doubts on whether or not I would personally like it or not.

I am kinda sad that I didn't go to the theater and see this movie now. I was expecting some drab semi-fictional account of what when on and why the hell I am so addicted to Facebook ! I mean lets just face some facts. As humans evolve, so does intelligence (as well as stupidity in some cases). If half of this movie were true... Mark Zuckerberg is a flipping genius! I mean lets face it, you would have to have lived under a rock, or third world country for that matter, to NOT have heard about Facebook.

There are over 500,000,000 people using it to keep tabs on their friends, stalk their ex's, find a job, post pictures of a raging party they went to, or even keep connections with family. If your anything like me, a 32 year old, it is always weird to see your parents pop up as wanting to be your  friend on Facebook. Sure they say that "they want to see pictures of their grandchild," or "looking forward to keeping in contact with whats going on with the family," but we know the truth. They want to see what all the hoopla of a $50,000,000,000 (That's billion for those who can't translate money) company, that has taken the world by storm.

This movie was comprised of a stellar cast of people from Jessie Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake and a couple other people I have seen in other movies. The film is directed by David Fincher and written by Aaron Sorkin.

I know of several people that have told me that there parents have signed up for Facebook after watching this movie, mine, weren't those people.

Mark Zuckerberg actually just appeared on Saturday Night Live to in essence, make fun of himself. If any of you saw it, it was short, sweet and to the point, well that is for SNL (See video here!). If you start it at the 6 minute mark and watch till about the 10:38 second mark you will see what I saw. It was pretty cool of him to do the show. Good of Mark to poke fun at himself, because that is what SNL does. After all he did create the "poke" feature (I kinda hate him for this of course).

Everyone always seems to hate Facebook when they go and change things, but you need to just look at it as the natural evolution of Facebook. Mark Z talks a lot about greeting things that make the world a better place, and I believe him. I read that he just recently donated a $100,000,000 to a Newark school corporation. He doesn't seem to be that bad of a guy from what I saw, he seemed to just want to be down with this whole thing and move on. When the lawsuits started filming, Mark didn't seem to be thrilled, but in a manner, it wouldn't help then do anything to jeopardize the increase in FaceBook,

I  remember the first time I came across Facebook in my buddies dorm room at Sigma Ali Pi, Steve "Grizzle" Spurgeon helped me try to select a new song that he had acquired from NAPSTER. When I full up his laptop to see THE FACEBOOK starring back at am I felt the crack run through my veins. From that moment, I know that this was something that I wanted to be involved in! The only downfall I had saw so far was the I didn't have Purdue.edu, or IU,edu credentials, to properly get on there and meet and greet my peeps. This site was nothing like I have ever seen before, and then I wondered why it had talked so long for me to be able to get involved. I didn't go to college, have a business email address. I was quite pissed off that they could cut me out of the next great thing. It wan't but two years later that as a normal human being, I was able to slip in under the radar. 10 minutes of fiddling around, i almost had an orgasm! It was about the best thing since sliced bread, beer drunken nights of Foosball in our old apartment on the west side of Indy. Good times there!

It was one of those moments in time when you see something pass by you that you might have had a chance to make millions/billions and then give back to make sure you have come full circle in life. I loved it and everything that it had to offer. Down below you see from right to left is Andy Sandberg (dressed like... Mark Zuckerberg. Then you have Jessie Eisneberg in the middle who portrayed the real Mark Zuckerberg in the movie The Social Network, The creator of "The Facebook" that later got changed to "Facebook". Parties ensued, drugs were done, more and more programing to keep up the the thousands of people logging into Facebook on a daily basis. The introduction of apps to peoples phones has mad it way easier to stalk, write, inform, celebrate things and Mark Zuckerberg had to get 100% of our thanks to Mr. Z!

Well, I leave you with this... Lay off the man, he is a genius with just as many personal issues as we have. If you haven't gone to see the movie, do so, it kinda lets you in on the craziness that is Facebook.

Let you imagination wander and go forth to make your billion dollar idea. You never know what you could create, and someone could take to the next level!!

(I have so rights to any of the pictures or movie clips, but only the thoughts that come from my brain.)

IUPUI... Really!

I have a whole day of classes to attend to tomorrow, until i checked the IUPUI website to find out that the school has so generously shut down IUPUI yet again for tomorrow. But there is kinda of a hitch in everything. Classes will resume at 5pm February 3rd. Not that this is a big issue, but I have a class, Finite math class, that starts at 4:30... What is a guy supposed to do. Well naturally I emailed the prof to see if she was going to be the Grinch, and make me come to campus for 1 class.

Then of course I run into the other problem of mine... What to do with yet another day off of work/class. I have started my to-do list, but usually blow it off to be a fat lazy American. I end up blowing through what I have recorded on my DVR by about 2, then am stuck watching crappy movies on either HBO or Showtime. Though I guess I pay for Netflix and it's instant viewing to keep me busy, plus i could get rid of all the random crap that the ex put on there because as god as my witness, I will not be watching Murder She Wrote reruns!!!!!

I wrote this blog from my bosses IPad and I have to say... It is pretty responsive and awesome. I might just have to man whore myself out to raise enough money to get one! Contact me if any of you out there want to donate to the cause!!!!

Stay warm my friends!!!!

Winter Weather Sucks!

Not only does this Indiana Winter Weather suck, but I am hung over as well! Its not everyday that a guy can spend 30 minutes scraping the ice from my car after a 11 &1/2 hour day at work. It was like slow jacking a killer whale! I think that I now have what the doctors call "Tennis Elbow." I mean really! The first 10 minutes were spent pounding on ice in the fear that my windows would shatter, but alas they did not.

Of course the weather is crappy, and I know that we aren't having the worst of it, but I am ready for some climate changes. The sad thing is, I know that February is typically the worst month for winter weather in Indiana. *sarcasm alert* I just cant wait to see what Old Man Winter has in store for us!!!

As I sit here writing this, the ice has started again. Though it does look pretty, I know that it is dangerous on the roads. Be safe and if your stuck in, start a fire, stay warm, watch a movie and drink... you know to stay warm!

I think I need an intervention...

So I think that I just had a moment of clarity today sitting on the couch... Hi, my names Ryan and I'm a TVaholic!
I realized that I had a 4 day weekend off and I haven't really done a whole lot with it. This is the reason I have started to create To-Do lists for my days off. I have to stop doing this to myself. I am such a lazy bum sometimes. I lack in motivation what I make up in laziness, and that's not good.
